The first step at a consultation is determining how much coverage you will need on your wedding day; to do this we start by building a timeline of the events. Standard coverage starts at 6 hours and typically includes getting ready, ceremony, portraits (family, newlywed, wedding party), toasts, and cake cutting. Coverage increases when requesting the following:  “first look” (more on this here), off-site newlywed portraits,  family photos greater than 10 variants, wedding parties greater than 10 persons, toasts longer than 15 minutes, and a grand exit.  When we sit down to talk about your wants we will come up with an estimate of how long it will take to photograph your event. In addition to photographing events;  time is set a side to capture the “look” of your wedding by photographing florals, wardrobes, landscapes, and special details.

The next step is to determine your “capture style”. Weddings are 100% photojournalist also know as candid. Then there are the perspectives on how the photographer will capture newlywed, individual portraits, and group shots (family and wedding party). These perspectives are styled (formal), lifestyle (causal) , and artistic. After reviewing images and asking a few questions we will determine your “Capture Style”.  Revealing your “capture style” is a gauge for Heirloomsnaps to customize your photos to your personality and taste. Here is an example;

Newlywed photos: 80% lifestyle/ 15% styled/ 5% artistic

Family: 100% styled

Wedding Party; 80% lifestyle / 20% styled

Portraits: 90% styled / 10% lifestyle

This process isn’t black and white and after discussing your event and preferences with Heirloomsnaps you’ll find relief in knowing that we are passionate about telling your story and their to listen to what you want.  I hope you found this article helpful for your up coming consultation with us.
