On a September day the rising sun was met with the storybook wedding of Valerie and Tom in Boulder at St. Julien Hotel. Their journey started in high school as sweethearts and traveled on an airplane across the Atlantic.
Spur of the moment, Valerie and Tom were invited to Europe with her aunt and uncle. They ended up going to Magere Brug, a bridge in Amsterdam, to look for her aunt and uncle’s love lock. Instead of finding theirs she found her name on a lock. Confused she turned to Tom who was already on one knee. Skip ahead after some planning and graduating college we found them on their wedding day.
It is the simple surprises that keep sparks alive and thriving. So why not have a first look! That is what Valerie and Tom decided and at one of the best places in Boulder; Chautauqua. The trail-head had a scattering of hikers who got a glimpse of Tom’s surprise of Valerie, but the couple never noticed. The clouds came and went, even brought a little rain. The sun peeked a hello and then it was time for the ceremony.
Outside the hotel guests enjoyed the sounds of Valerie’s brother’s jazz band and the cool breeze off the canyon. Tom walked the aisle with jubilation and Valerie holding her bouquet of roses and black calla lilies met him equally. The officiant, also Tom’s sister, recounted their storybook love. Guest smiled, eyes teared, and happiness was shared.
At dinner guests were pampered with several dinner choices and a two tier desert tray. For fun and games the couple kissed to clinking glasses and were ranked by spectators from 1 to 10. The maid of honor sang the couple’s first dance song and for the last special dance the newlyweds shared the dance floor with their parents. During dancing guests were pampered with finger foods and enjoyed jazz music.
