A slight drizzle began as we made our way to Peaceful Valley, located in Lyons, Colorado. The overcast sky was beautiful yet ominous, and made for some interesting challenges throughout the day. Below the beautiful backdrop of the Colorado mountains, Lindsey and Scott were determined to have their ceremony outdoors, regardless of the weather. Lindsey told the officiant that she would get married at the outdoor location no matter what, even if it was pouring rain.
So the guests and wedding party made their way to the ceremony, umbrellas in hand. They enjoyed some refreshments as they waited under a canopy for the rain to lighten up, it was appearing to come to an end. Finally, the drips lessened in frequency, and an excited bustle broke out as people got into position quickly. Lindsey emerged from the truck she was waiting in, and the ceremony was completed without anyone getting completely soaked. One truly unique aspect of their ceremony was the branding of a bench with both of their initials. This bench was later taken into the reception hall, where it could be engraved by loved ones. The bench serves as a symbolic coalition between families, as well as a tangible reminder of their day.
Later in the evening, guests lounged around a fire pit, and enjoyed cocktails as well as s’mores. The s’mores served as the cake for their guests, and as Lindsey and Scott took turns giving the other a bite, it was clear to see why they chose Peaceful Valley as their venue, and why they chose each other. Their love for each other is infectious, and as the clouds cleared, a gorgeous dash of sunlight broke through for their intimate portraits. It was a beautiful venue paired with a blissfully happy couple, and made for stunning images.
